Chehera: The Human Face of TB
GHA India (March 2011)
The real lives and faces behind the disease inspired Global Health Advocates India to harness the power of art through a collaboration with the Art For Change Foundation — a group of socially conscious artists — to create an exhibition dedicated to those who battle with TB.
A gallery showing was organized on World TB Day, 2011 where the public were invited to see powerful images that truly illustrate the challenge that this scourge presents. The exhibit allowed these artists to transcend the physical world of TB to one where art becomes a window into emotions, experiences, perspectives, aspirations, and dreams. Inside the attached PDF are 88 pgs of images and personal accounts from the artists who created them, as well as some insightful and informative statements from those on the ground fighting TB. "Chehera: The Human Face of TB" should inspire you to educate yourself further and do what you can to help stop the spread of tuberculosis.
Women and TB...Taking Action Against a Neglected Issue
ACTION (July 2010)
The Though tuberculosis is the third leading killer of adult women worldwide, TB has long been neglected as a women's health issue. Women face particular barriers to diagnosis and care, and their experience of the disease can be different than men's. In addition to TB's unique medical and health impacts on women, a TB diagnosis can also bring with it intense stigma that disproportionately affects women and girls.
In this brief, ACTION reviews the evidence regarding women and TB and provides reccomendations for accelerating the reponse by integrating TB services with those for maternal and child health and by increasing collaboration on advocacy between the infectious disease and the maternal and child health
Aid Without Impact: How the World Bank and Development Partners Are Failing to Improve Health Through SWAps
ACTION (June 2010)

The findings suggest that SWAps, as currently implemented, do not effectively address the alarming rates of TB in sub-Saharan Africa. The report uncovers a shocking lack of attention to results by the Bank and its partners.
